The Heinkel He 111 was designed in the early 1930s. Its purpose was to provide the Luftwaffe with a fast medium bomber. 94 Heinkels 111, were delivered to the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War, (1936-1939). This unit was shot on January 4, 1938, by air defenses, while bombarding the city of Tarragona in Catalonia. The wreck was dragged by fishing boats, from 200 meters deep, in the early 80s. Today, lies at 32 meters depth, face down. Currently, only the central structure remains. The wreck has been pillaged by divers over these years.
